The Route

Starting the journey

Much of the walk will be decided by the spontaneity and adventure of the road and the places and people encountered along the way.

Nodes

The journey will be inspired by the seasons, consisting of nodes, destinations and commitments which will give a loose structure to the overall journey. For example:

Spring: Beltane, starting the journey
Summer: Offering workshops at a festival for solstice, working with community groups in Birmingham, a 10 day walk.
Autumn: A 10 day walk, Taking part in some paid work to support the journey.
Winter: A base camp and solitary retreat time over the winter months.

Following the Foraging Seasons

Another element which will shape the journey is following the natural abundance and seasonal availability of wild food. Inspired by the work of Ffyona Campbell (the hunter gatherer way) which explores a migration route which may have been similar to that undertaken by the ancient ancestors of our lands.
