Living in Community
A big part of LiC's mission is to work with systems of communication, mentoring, conflict resolution and decision making that are efficient, beautiful, dynamic and potentially challenging.
This means keeping track of and acknowledging power dynamics and interpersonal conflicts that arise.
A commitment and willingness to exploring these things on a personal level, as well as within the group, and an openness to exploring different ways of working, is asked of people joining the project. [For more information, see the ‘Community’ section on this website].
Facilitating shorter walks will be a part of financing The Year Long project.
For this project to happen, money needs to be a collective resource and an open conversation. Financial contributions are not given in transaction, rather they are part of building a community and a network of relationships.
The aim is to make the walk as accessible as possible, whilst also meeting the reality of financing the project. Our estimated cost per person per month is £8.50 per day, covering food, group kit and an emergency fund. This does not cover any of the work to set up and administrate the project, or the time/costs of the 5 organisers.
We ask you to radically question your situation. Can you play a greater part in enabling others to join and in supporting the organisers? Would you like to come for longer but cannot afford it?
Any money left at the end of the year will go towards supporting the organisers next steps.
It is important to acknowledge that taking 10 days to a year to take part in a project like this requires a certain amount of privilege, and whilst for some it may feel safe to walk and camp in Britain, for others it may not.
If you are excited about this project and there is something that could make it easier for you to join, or be a part of the project in a different way that works for you, please get in touch and we can start a conversation.
it's also important to acknowledge that this project isn't for everyone.
